When making preliminary models for my prospective outdoor seating- Helen suggested to me to look at the seating at a site in Vienna. I found that researching existing products was helpful as it showed me what is already available in the market and what has proven to be successful. Similarly to this, other research that I have conducted, such as looking into outdoor seating at schools, has shown me what has not worked for conform and social benefits.
With this research I can now continue my design process with a clearer understanding of what shapes, sizes and materials work positively for what I am designing. In reflection- I have kept my research restricted to outdoor seating exclusively in order to make a decision for designs quicker. This was needed as the pace of the project is fast and I need to keep up with the design process in order to move onto making and finalising my ideas.
